Background Information regarding Carnival/Fasching in Germany:

In Germany February is Carnival time, which devides the nation in two opposing camps. It starts already November 11th (11/11/11:11 hrs) for the "Real Tough Ones". But the highlights take place on "Rosenmontag",  and on "Faschingsdienstag" (Mardi Gras). The "Fifth Season" finds its end with the "Funeral of the Fasching" and the "Kehraus", which means, that (symbolically and mentally) after the final party anything subject to Carnival gets wiped, and swept, and brushed out (mostly  not only a mind thing...).  With the Ash Wednesday  the "crazy days" are over, and the Fasting season begins. Many Carnival Beaus and Beauties (also called "Carnival Fools") wouldn't be able to manage 
having a meal anyway, suffering from quite a headache, and from any possible shade between hoarseness and aphony. So far about the real keen ones, mainly in and around Cologne and Mainz, 
the Carnival strongholds. 

But "one man's meat is another man's poison", they say. And many people are looking for an escape to avoid all the noise and the clamour that's going on. This is a good moment for some family holidays, as the kids have a break from school.

We thought, this is also a good moment to repeat our Christmas Special Week for the ones who can't leave around Christmas Season. And maybe there are some cheaper flights available  when Christmas and New Year's are over.

Enjoy a big variety of activities in our Winterwonderland! Have great fun going snow shoeing, or cross country skiing; snowmobiling or hiking on many maintained trails, horsebackriding, dog sledding, ice fishing, and much more. Afterwards, relax with some fresh brewed coffee/tea, or a hot chocolate near the fireplace in a warm and homey atmosphere.

Our renovated original homestead (which is the guest house) is fully heated and has warm and cosy rooms with bathroom, and a nice family/gathering room. There are further a fridge, and a washer/dryer; internet access is also provided.
